This design venture is an attempt to celebrate the life of Frida Kahlo - a combination of passion, personal heritage, political conviction, and practical response to her disability. I have drawn inspiration from her paintings, her personality traits, and the Tehuana traditional dress which was something she merged with and wore like a second skin, along with hiding her imperfections that came together in a  perfect union of identity, beauty, and design. The name "काया" (meaning body in Hindi) depicts this intimate relationship between her body and dress.
From the day Frida had polio till the day she died, Kahlo was subjected to 22 surgical operations that left her with a disintegrating body. Despite all of this, she was a woman who lived fiercely and defiantly.
Frida helped me recognize parts of myself, and I shall be eternally thankful.
